Jerry’s words struck nerve-central in Ted’s heart.
I haven’t thought about The Rapture coming before Jerry is grown up. It’s hard to imagine Jesus coming back before Jerry can enjoy life. On the positive side of things, life isn’t easy. He would almost surely miss a lot of heartache. And if he’s not old enough for heart-real confession and belief, Jesus will carry him to heaven.
Jerry tapped on Ted’s shoulder and asked, “Dad? Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Ted snapped his head around and faced Jerry.
“I’m sorry. Your question left me deep in thought. I probably need time to think about it.”
Ted looked at the ocean. On the beach, he saw a young boy running after a tall man. The man splashed into the water and the boy followed, face-planting into the water’s edge. The man lifted the boy from the water and spun him around like a helicopter blade. Ted looked at Jerry, who also gazed at the water.
“That looks like fun,” Jerry said. “Am I too big for you to spin me around like that?”
Ted laughed and said, “I don’t know. Should we test it?”
Jerry looked at Ted with a big smile and asked, “Race?”
